Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has explained. Why he was seen as heartless for not bringing in caretaker manager Ruud van Nistelrooy. Before his arrival to join the backroom staff in order to make everyone’s work more comfortable.

Back in late 2024, Van Nistelrooy was assistant to manager Erik ten Hag until the 53-year-old was sacked. With the former United striker taking charge for four games.  ทางเข้า UFABET

He then handed over the baton to Amorim in November after parting ways with Sporting Lisbon.

Of course, there were calls for the Portuguese coach to add Ruud to his backroom staff. But Amorim declined as he already had his own staff. Until the Dutchman was brought in, the Foxes brought the team back to Old Trafford to battle it out.

Amorim said:

“It’s not a difficult situation because personally I’m clear.” Amorim said at a press conference ahead of the FA Cup fourth-round tie with Leicester on February 7.

“I have to explain what’s on my mind, which is simple and he understands. He’s a footballer, he knows the situation.”

“As for me, I have my own team and staff. There were also calls to keep Ruud. It’s an approach that many people like.”

“But I still can’t let Ruud have a bigger role than the team that we know well. I still reiterate my original position.”

“Because if I do that, it means I will make someone like Rudd overlap with the staff who are carrying him along. Which is not fair to Van Nistelrooy either.”

“To show respect to Ruud, I had to have an open conversation with him, explaining that. I brought my team with me and wanted it to continue that way. So I didn’t want Ruud, who is considered a club legend, to be a lowly staff member.”

“It was a clear decision, very easy to explain. And he accepted it and stepped down with the grace he always does.”
